Director of Training and Culture
Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Shane has been rooted in Austin since the late ’90s and part of the Home Slice story for nearly two decades. With 35 years in the restaurant industry—19 of those spent growing alongside the company—he’s worn just about every hat there is: server, bartender, trainer, lead, mid-mod, manager, and now Director of Training & Culture. He helped open our North Loop location as a manager and has been a steady force behind what makes Home Slice feel like Home Slice ever since. These days, he leads all new hire orientations in Austin, serving as the first impression for new homies and setting the tone for what it means to be part of the team. With a BFA in Theatre from Sam Houston State University, Shane brings a natural ability to connect, teach, and inspire. He works closely with our trainers and leaders to build confidence, share knowledge, and keep raising the bar on hospitality—for both our guests and our staff. He’s also known for hosting wine dinners that pair our food with our Italian wines, helping the team deepen their understanding of what we serve and how we serve it. At the heart of it all, Shane is driven by one thing: creating a culture where people feel supported, inspired, and excited to show up every day—and making sure that feeling carries all the way through to our guests.
